Globally Renowned Fine Artist Beverly Thomas To Feature ‘Muses’ Drawings and Painting Exhibit at WCCCD Brown And Juanita C. Ford Art Gallery at Northwest Campus
DETROIT, Mich. – May 12, 2025 – Globally renowned fine artist Beverly Thomas will open her new exhibit, “MUSES: Drawing and Paintings” on Wednesday, May 14 with a 5:30 p.m. opening reception at the ÎçÒ¹AV’s Brown and Juanita C. Ford Art Gallery at the Northwest Campus. The Northwest Campus is located at 8200 West Outer Drive in Detroit and the exhibit will be on view through July 10, 2025. The reception and exhibit are open to the public at no cost.
Thomas was heavily influenced by travel and missionary experiences in South Africa at the beginning of her career, and much of her work reflects themes and images from within the African Diaspora, using mixed media including acrylics, oils, pastels, and charcoal. Thomas has exhibited widely, including throughout the U.S., South Africa, Namibia, and Canada. She continues to exhibit throughout the Midwest U.S.
Thomas’ paintings are in several private collections as well as in the offices of the National Council of Negro Women in Washington, D.C., Publishing House, AMEC, in Nashville, the First Episcopal District Office in Philadelphia, and stained-glass windows at St. John Cathedral Church in Aurora, Illinois.

Renowned multimedia artist, designer, and educator Elizabeth Youngblood will open a new exhibit of her collected works at the ÎçÒ¹AV’s Brown and Juanita C. Ford Art Gallery at the Curtis L. Ivery Downtown Campus. The exhibit will open with a reception on Thursday, June 5 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and be on display through July 5, 2025.
